Grapes sourced from Upper Adelaide, Wrattonbully, Barossa, Padthaway, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. Clearly they make a bit of it. 82% shiraz, 18% mataro. 12 months in French (83%) and American oak, no details on the percentage of new.
The hit of kirsch. That sweet, simple, seductive strike. Chocolate, spices, peppercorns, perhaps even pepper itself. Sichuan pepper. The fruit here is intense, the tannin emery fine, the two happily married. Indeed the way tannin ripples through this wine could well be its premier trait. It all works well. This is good, hefty, smooth-skinned drinking.
